This is the world history according to Janix the scholar. Through his 100 years of research, he has compiled thousands of scrolls and transcribed them into the tomes of history. Provided below is his short version of the world history to be told as a tale and song from generation to generation so that the times past will always be remembered.

things start in the time before time. The universe did not exist,
and the heavens and the stars were yet to be born. Only the gods
themselves existed.
With countless eons gone by, the gods became bored with the nothingness that surrounded them. They yearned for new pleasures and games. From this desire, the god Leopo created the heavens and the world. But it was so empty, so the sun was created to light and provide warmth for the world. The moons were created to provide an ever watchful eye for the gods to enjoy their creation. At first, the world was empty and bare. The world was perfectly smooth like a glass ball. The gods viewed this as a canvas on which to paint and mold to their liking. First, the mountains and the ocean were created. The gods played simple games at first, but as they became bored again, they yearned for something more. According to Elven legends, it was the god Ella that created the first living plants to add beauty to the world. When the other gods observed this they laughed, but as time passed and the plants grew and changed, the others became more and more interested. Then, the god Polara created the first of many creatures in the water. These creatures were simple, but they provide entertainment for the gods. The gods enjoyed this, and others joined in to create other creatures in the oceans. Each god trying to outdo the others by making their creation bigger or faster or tougher. The games went on for ages and ages, and the fish and crab and shark were born, and upon realizing the ever more complexity in the creatures, the gods marveled over their own creations. Mephron didn't like what Ella had done with the world outside of the ocean, and was the first to create the insects of the world. These creatures would eat the plants on the land. This irritated Ella, and she created the bird creatures to eat the insects of the world. This sparked a competition among the gods to create more and more creatures on the land, each one capable of destroying its predecessor thus providing the food chain we know today. Ages passed. Time became the biggest enemy of the gods, and once again they became bored with their creation. It was near the end of this time, the gods combined their knowledge and power and created the Ancients. The ancients were a manifestation of the gods on the world. To prevent the Ancients from becoming too powerful and one day overtaking the gods themselves, the gods created a series of mana wells throughout the world. The Ancients were created with a dependency on these wells for life, and the inability to multiply across the land. The gods were proud of their new creation. The gods watched the Ancients for eons as the Ancients developed magic, art, science and other ideas the gods had never conceived. As for the Ancients, they were children with near unlimited power and knowledge. They always wanted more, but they were imprisoned to the mana wells as a source of life and energy. It was at this time the Ancients created the five great races: Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Halflings and Humans. These individuals would not have to stay within the prison of the mana wells, and could go forth in the world and do the Ancients bidding. The Elves were created to develop art and music. They were endowed with elegance, charm, and the dexterity to create masterpieces of art for the Ancients and the world to behold. The Dwarves were created to mine the precious minerals and to forge the greatest structures in the world. Throughout the years, the dwarves developed many great halls within the stone mountains around the lands. The would be the first to develop the weapons to fight the hordes of goblins and orc in the eons to come. The Gnomes researched and developed the new magic. The magic devised would be more akin to illusion and deception. The Halflings were created for agriculture and cooking. They were built short so they could be closer to the ground they worked on. The humans were created in the image of the Ancients to represent the ancients in the world without the boundaries imposed by the mana wells. Although they didn't have any of the raw power of the Ancients, but they were creative and capable of many different wonderful skills. As ages passed, the gods marveled at their creation, and the creations that were born from the Ancients. But, at the same time, they were jealous, for they never imagined the beauty and the complexity the Ancients would develop. The gods wanted to create this same beauty in the land, and attempted to create their own great races. Unfortunately, they were not as successful. From the gods, the goblins, orcs, ogres and giants were born. These races only knew the jealousy and anger of the gods, and these new creatures proceeded to go to war with the five great races. The wars were terrible. Thousands upon thousands of the five races lay dead all across the land. The Ancients saw this anger, and attempted to banish it, only for most of the Ancients to be destroyed since they had no comprehension of the evil that befell them. One of the Ancients pondered the predicament before himself. He searched for answers, and he was answered by the god Mephron. He granted him command over the dead of the land. The Ancient used this power to push back the hordes to the northern lands. Now, the five races had believed all Ancients to be destroyed. The world plunged into the dark ages. The dead were everywhere, and they were under some evil. Afraid, not understanding, the five races migrated to the north to evade the evil that had engulfed their homelands. This came to be known as the Great Migration. To mark the occasion as a new beginning, the calendar was created marking the Great Migration as year zero so that all could remember times long ago.
